Meet the Team
Alex
Currently a Home Economics teacher, Alex is retraining as a teacher-librarian. But she has discovered that libraries are no longer just about books, and is super excited about becoming a new age teacher-librarian; connected, techno savvy and a multimodal communicator! She hopes this website is informative as well as entertaining, and enables teachers and students to connect with people and resources about sustainability.
Jade
Jade is a casual primary school teacher. She lives on the beautiful South Coast of NSW with her husband and two children. She is passionate about sustainability and wants people to start making changes for a sustainable future for present and future generations. She is in her first semester of her Masters of Education (Teacher-Librarianship).
Sam
Sam is a primary school teacher in Brisbane who is studying her Masters of Education. She is the environment and sustainability representative for the school, having been part of the Queensland Environmentally Sustainable Schools Initiative (QESSI). Sam has networked with other schools in the Gateway Learning Community to further the mission of environmental stewardship for young Australians.
Peita
Peita has been a primary teacher for almost 10 years and loves integrating sustainable ideas into the classroom. Now a teacher-librarian, she stocks the shelves with beautiful nature-inspired children’s literature. At home, she has a thriving vegie patch, a family of Tawny Frogmouths in her gumtree and knows all about sorting the landfill from the recycling and soft plastics. She is a mother to two incredible children and dreams of one day taking them to see the pristine Great Barrier Reef – so we need to take care of it!
Lizzy
Lizzy is a primary school teacher currently enjoying a few years at home with her two little girls while also retraining as a teacher-librarian. She has always been passionate about sustainability, and at home tries to reuse, reduce, recycle and consider the most ethical option wherever she can. But as a busy teacher, incorporating these things into the school day is so much harder than at home. She hopes that this web resource will help passionate teachers like her improve sustainability in their classroom.
