This Picture Storybook is an adaptation of a traditional Dreamtime story originating in Southern NSW.
It tells the tale of a thirsty frog whom, after drinking all of the lands water, must be made to laugh in order to replenish the lands water supplies.
The book is a great way of introducing the water cycle to younger primary grades, as well as posing deeper questions to older students about how unrestricted use of water by one, can affect others. There are many other picture book creations of this story, more detail about other versions can be found here.
This dreamtime story was also made into a video animation as part of the
Marambul Yuganha Exhibition in 2011.
